BILL # HB 2404 |
TITLE: license to practice taxidermy; repeal |
|
SPONSOR: Mosley |
STATUS: As Amended by House EENR |
|
PREPARED BY: Morgan Dorcheus |
|
The bill as would remove state regulations for taxidermists, and require the Arizona Game and Fish Department to maintain a registry of taxidermists, starting January 1, 2019.
Estimated Impact
The bill is estimated to reduce revenues to the Game and Fish Fund by $(22,700) annually. The Arizona Game and Fish Department reports that annual spending would remain the same.
The Arizona Game and Fish Department collects fees associated with the regulation of taxidermists in the state and deposits them to the Game and Fish Fund. In FY 2017, the department reports there were 151 active taxidermy licenses that generated $22,700 in revenue.
The department does not receive a separate appropriation for the regulation of taxidermists, and reports that the cost of maintaining a taxidermy registry would be about the same as the cost of regulating taxidermists under current law. Therefore, it is unlikely the bill would reduce expenditures.
